INFORMATION FOR REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA COVERING THE MEETING The Government Public Relations and Media Office (PRMO) is preparing everything to ensure that media representatives covering the meeting in Slovenia on 16 June 2001, between US president George W. Bush and president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, can work effectively and are made to feel welcome. PRESS CENTRE The main press centre will be organised in Ljubljana, in the Cankarjev Dom conference and cultural centre, entrance from Trg republike 3. We will provide communications infrastructure (150 work stations fitted with ISDN telephones and desktop computers, and 100 analogue connections for laptop computers); journalists will be able to view live TV transmissions of individual events open to the public. If the meeting takes place outside Ljubljana, we will provide an auxiliary press centre at the venue. POOLS Due to the large numbers of journalists, TV crews and photo-reporters expected, and the limited space at event venues, it is likely that, in agreement with the American and Russian sides, the principle of pooling will be applied. It is for precisely this reason that we will provide live TV coverage from the venues of events open to the public for journalists in the press centre. EVENTS Between 15 and 17 June, we will organise a series of meetings, briefings and press conferences for foreign media representatives in the CD press centre. We will let you know the details in good time. We are already in a position to announce a press conference to be held by President of the Republic of Slovenia, Milan Kučan, on Friday 15 June at 12 noon in the CD press centre.
