Information on the accreditation procedure for journalists, TV teams and photoreporters who will follow the American-Russian summit meeting between Presidents Bush and Putin.

The American, Russian and other foreign and Slovene journalists will need accreditation for participation or reporting on the Bush - Putin meeting.

Applications for accreditation should be sent to the Government Public Relations and Media Office (fax: +386 1 251 23 12).

Applications for accreditation will be standardised - a special form - and they will not contain the requirement for a photograph to be submitted.

Forms can also be obtained from Embassies of the Republic of Slovenia, and it will also, of course, be possible to obtain them from the Government Public Relations and Media Office (Slovenska 29, 1000 Ljubljana, tel: +386 1 478 26 11; fax: +386 1 251 23 12), and they will be sent to all permanently accredited foreign journalists from Slovenia.

The Government Public Relations and Media Office is endeavouring to ensure that the forms for accreditation will be available as soon as possible, but it must wait for the American and Russian sides to agree on the content of the form for accreditation.

American and Russian journalists who come to Slovenia in the retinue of the two presidents will probably be accredited through the appropriate American and Russian services.

Accommodation
Individual foreign media have already reserved accommodation in Ljubljana for their journalists, cameramen and photoreporters. We anticipate large numbers and it will probably not be possible for all to obtain accommodation in Ljubljana, so we suggest that they try and obtain accommodation through the agency KOMPAS D.D., which will be authorised to reserve accommodation for journalists.

Press centre
The exact location of the press centre is not yet agreed, or decided. Wherever the meeting is to be held, the Office will in any case organise a central press centre in Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana, with all the necessary communications infrastructure and with the possibility of viewing TV transmissions from the scene of events.

If the meeting is held outside Ljubljana, we will organise a mini press centre at the location itself for journalists attending press statements or news conferences.

Pools
Because of the anticipated large number of journalists, TV teams and photoreporters it is expected that there will be limited possibilities at the scenes of events for directly following these events and the principle of pools will be applied.

Permission for satellite transmission of radio and television signals from Slovenia
An ATA Carnet is required for the temporary import of communications equipment for satellite transmission in a vehicle.
